The pans are advertised as 'copper-bottomed', and through the photographs you are lead to believe that they actually have a sufficient amount of copper to influence cooking. Through an unfortunate incident my SO went through with one of the pans the copper on the bottom has literally flaked off (as others have noted in their photos). The design of this cookware is designed to mislead. And that is why I have changed my review to a single star. Their cooking performance is similar to any other stainless steel set, and for that the value is not bad. For their poor advertising practices and poor design, including simply plating the bottom (Mind you they plated areas that would *not* typically come into any contact with the cooking elements (coils, or glass tops, excluding gas), there is little danger of the consumer chipping the bottom away.My first set of cookware that includes copper has been a fairly good experience. I'm always excited about trying out new cookware, especially if the description, photos and reviews seem very promising. Whenever I review a product I give an honest effort and review; I attempt to give the reader information I would have wanted to have in order to make an informed decision and get the most value for their dollar.That said, I must tell you there are some design, fit and finish issues with this cookware set. Most of them I discovered while cleaning them up to prepare them for use. Firstly, there is a paper label attached to the bottom of each pan, centered on the copper; the label can be soaked off, but the adhesive requires Goo Gone or a similar product to remove, which is a minor inconvenience. Adhesives must be removed before placing an item in the dishwasher to avoid future problems with the spray arm.
