The smooth finish of the bamboo combined with the attention to detail on the grip makes them easy to use. If you notice the utensil in your hand then something is wrong...I hardly noticed these as I used them which were fantastic and the silicon is always a benefit for the longevity of my cookware. The tool-end construction of the kitchen utensils is excellent. The nylon core provides great support without compromising the flexibility and benefits of the silicon and the color will fit any kitchen. As a result of my testing, having received these at a discount for my honest review, I want to emphasize that these should be hand washed as it will quickly begin to break down the bamboo if consistently placed in a dishwasher, but that small point aside, they are finely made and are worth the purchase. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful Beautiful, high quality, and useful, By This review is from: PortoFino 5 Pc. It's bound to happen since you run into perfect specific use tools, but I like to minimize it. The Portofino bamboo and silicone utensil set helps by including 5 commonly used utensils. The bamboo handles are nice and attractive. I prefer wood in the kitchen since it doesn't melt and just adds that touch of home to your kitchen. Each utensil has soft silicone on the ends which is the best for kitchen use. Silicone has a very high melting point, is better for your health, and doesn't stick for ease of use and washing! However, this set goes a step beyond by including a nylon core to add much needed rigidity to each utensil. Silicone is known to be soft, so this is very important. Each piece is very useful and well made, my only minor complaint is that the handle for some pieces are shorter than my current utensils so I'll have to get used to them. I was a little skeptical at first because with bamboo products, they're either super high quality or shoddy as anything with lots of chipping and breakage. These utensils are definitely well made. The bamboo handles feel thick and sturdy, not like they're going to snap when I spoon out some soup or stir something. They're also smooth and free of any chips or splinters. The silicone parts also seem decent. I don't really have anything to say about them. Silicone cooking goods are pretty standard now and in general they're all well made. It's hard to mess them up.Appearance wise, these are nice. They'll match almost any kitchen since black goes with everything and bamboo in general looks classy. So if you're planning on buying these as a gift for someone, you don't have to worry about them looking ugly with the rest of their kitchen stuff. Overall, I think these are great.
