Sure, the old set was built heavy-duty but for the last few years we've noticed (1) tons of scratches and (2) food sticking pretty badly. No peeling, but obvious pitting...and it was a real pain to scrub the food out from those circular grooves.The old set was around $500 and we didn't really want to spend that much again this time around. The T-Fal set pretty much fit the bill in terms of replacing all of the old pieces with comparably-sized ones -- at a much lower cost. They look nice and do heat evenly. You get so many pieces that are so useful...and for less than some other 6 or 8 piece sets will cost you!Let's face it...non-stick pans will not last forever. You know this when you buy it. Anodized cookware is generally thicker, more durable, transfers heat more evenly, and is more resistant to corrosion than other cookware. Plus it is way easier to clean than stainless steel.This set is extremely durable, from the handles and the tops to the cookware itself. The handles are not metal, which is very nice compared to some other cookware I've had (which honestly, should just be a standard. Why would you NOT have rubberized handles that won't burn you to the touch?). The glass the tops are made of is very durable and has stood the test of time, use and children (my children unload the dishwasher and things get dropped, a lot). The surfaces themselves are amazing. If you can help it, try to use non-metal utensils on it so it will stay pristine and nonstick for evverrrrrr.
